Description

Presentation about change tracking in Apache OpenOffice and the OpenDocument file format - current state, its insufficiency and possible improvements

Abstract

This talk will give a short overview about the change tracking in Apache OpenOffice (AOO) and the OpenDocument file format (ODF). Insufficiency of the change tracking capabilities in AOO and ODF will be outlined. It follows a detailed overview about the current improvement work regarding change tracking in the OASIS OpenDocument TC for ODF. As AOO has a tight relationship to ODF - it is its native file format - this standardization work provides the corresponding ground to solve the insufficiency and existing feature gaps in AOO's change tracking. A deeper discussion on the possible changes and improvements for AOO's word processing component (Writer) completes the talk.
