Globalization is one of the strength of OpenOffice and former OpenOffice versions were available in more than 100 languages. The talk is intended to give a short overview where the project stands today and how you as individual can participate and help in any kind of globalization efforts for OpenOffice. Globalization of OpenOffice has many facets and the most important one is probably the internationalization of the software and the translation of the user interface and help system to make the software available in as many languages as possible and to reach out as many as possible users all over the world. This can be achieved only by a working community and as a collaborative effort where many people work together. The talk will explain how the translation process works today and on the other side it is also intended to get feedback how this process can be improved. A further important aspect is the translation of the user portal, the main entrance for the users of the OpenOffice software. The information should be ideally available in many different languages to solve the initial language barrier directly form the beginning and guide users and visitors most efficient to the information they are looking for. The talk will give an overview how it works today and how you can participate.
