Finally we used the ApacheCon to get old and new people together and cut down some responsibilities on committers. So we started the release cycle and are looking forward for future releases.
At the May board meeting of the ASF a resolution to make Turbine a top-level project of the ASF was passed. This means we are leaving the umbrella of Jakarta to forge ahead on our own.
There will be a period of instability while the site, mailing lists, etc. are migrated from jakarta.apache.org to turbine.apache.org, but we hope to sort everything out in the near future.
You may be interested to know that there has been a fair bit of activity lately working towards a 2.3.3 release. There is still a little more work to do and a couple of dependencies we are waiting for, but this is shaping up to be a good step forward and long overdue update. Watch this space.

The Turbine team has decided to do some actual software paleontology and do a release of the long standing Turbine 2.3.x component layer called "Stratum". This release is intended as a closure to replace all the alpha and beta versions floating around. There is no further development beyond the 1.0 version planned.
